Fly Away

I started creating this outfit with the scarf and I just went a little crazy. I love the outfit, its very cute. I would wear anytime but would be great for Halloween for most lol.

Caravella Orangecello

I recently tried Caravella Orangecello. Inspired by the orange groves of Sicily this tasty drink came to life. Orangecello is made with peels of Sicilian oranges soaked with sugar and orange juice in pure grain alcohol. It can be a tad bit strong but a great orange flavor that I definitely like.  I personally prefer it on the rocks but could go great in martinis and champagne spritzers! For you folks who love to pair your choices with food it goes well with desserts, appetizers, seafood and polutry or pork entrees.

Nice Recipe for a cocktail!

My Nola Soul

My Nola Soul
My NOLA Soul is more than just T shirts, it's a movement. We give back with every purchase on on a direct level to the community. The goal is to make people more culturally aware of what the city has to offer. Our people and culture is what makes New Orleans what it is and if we let that die, we are just like very other tourist spot. I can’t even imagine what the city would be like without it.

What made you decide to make t-shirts?
Actually I have had another T shirt and gift company since 2005 that I started after Katrina, so doing shirts was an endeavor that was natural for me to take on.

What makes your designs so unique?
The people, places and things we highlight. Seriously. If anyone has ever met Mike McKenzie or Phil Frazier you will know what huge personalities these people have. On top of that they are both truly genuine and kind individuals. Warren Easton has a huge history in the city, and there is nothing more unique than the Mardi Gras Indians collectively and individually. All of them in themselves make us what we are.

How do you create your designs?
When I start each design I approach the figure or charity with an initial idea and we collaborate through the design phase to completion. I want the vision to be original and fresh but I am usually coming to the table with an idea in mind and we tweak it along the way together. My vision is always a final product that is really creative, fashionable, and artistic. Right now, I do the designs myself but collaborate with the figures and charities to make sure the final product "fits" with their vision also.

What is it about New Orleans you want to showcase in your design?
EVERYTHING! I think there is never enough that you can share and highlight about our city to people.

What can we expect next from My Nola Soul Designs?
We are working on a project with ZULU right now that I am very excited about and after that, the possibilities are endless! The plan is to create a design series and roll out the newer designs together moving forward. This first series is very personal to me as I have friendships and personal reasons for choosing to highlight the figures and charities in it. Each of them were very receptive to working with me and assisting me with launching the concept. We have all been very excited about the future and the possibilities in helping out the city. New Orleans has so many facets that make up our culture and I don’t honestly think it is possible to run out of inspiration.

Any trends you are anticipating this year?
I see a lot of the 70’s vibe coming back in a fast way. Lots of bright bold color palettes and prints and looser fabrics in designs. I plan to incorporate the trends into the designs also.

New Years

The most import piece of this look is the Alexander McQueen Byzantine Envelope Clutch. Omg, its gorgeous!!!! I decided to pair it with a wonderful leopard print silk dress by Matthew Williamson with some embellishment work on each side of the dress. Depending on the weater this cute gathered jacket would be a perfect addition.
