The Roosevelt New Orleans will re-create the “Stormin’ of the Sazerac” Friday, Sept. 24, starting at 2 p.m. to mark the 61st anniversary of the original “Stormin’.” It was Sept. 26,1949, when women, normally admitted only on Mardi Gras, began to receive equal status year-round with men at the world-famous bar.
The event will feature Sazeracs for the ladies, a “vintage glamour” costume contest and informal hat modeling by Fleur de Paris and the Emporium Gift Shop. All guests are encouraged to dress in late-1940s attire. A special ladies-only lunch menu will be served at the Sazerac Restaurant beginning at noon for just $25, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Complimentary valet parking is available for those who dine at the Sazerac Restaurant. For lunch reservations, call (504) 648-5486.
