Why I heart NYC

Horns blaring, sirens screaming, traffic jams, fast lanes, congested streets, AC window units, expensive apt, small space, cramped commutes, disheveled crowds, laundry matts, bums and again Horns blaring, sirens screaming, traffic jams, fast lanes, congested streets, AC window units, expensive apt, small space, cramped commutes, disheveled crowds, laundry matts, bums and again... day after day I was encountered with one of each of these reasons one would say NOT to LOV NYC. But, I must say that this was a part of the pleasures of NY life for me. I'm a fast lane kinda girl so moving to NY felt right after making a decision 2 wks before to pack up and leave the stability and slow pace of Arkansas where I'd spent 6 yrs of my life after graduating high school in my home town New Orleans. I packed my car and 2 suit cases and what ever didn't fit... didn't make the trip.

When I landed in NYC March 10, 2005 it immediately felt like home. mind you, living in NY was a dream of mine since child hood and I like to think of myself as sort of a chameleon, adapting to any and every environment. It took a friend of mine, 1 month later to get me to take a moment to look up and see the height and stature of the buildings that I'd already addapted to walking by like all of the native New Yorkers. I was never a tourist of the city, I simply... belonged. So my love for New York is of all the quirks and headaches which is also the charm and personality of the city. I loved the character that I myself would take on conquering the streets of NY!I could be me completely with out judgement ridicule or mockery who ever me was... I was free to be in NYC.

I had arrived! NYC is the epitome of convenience I could walk around the corner from my apartment and there was a Japanese restaurant, Thai restaurant, Greek restaurant, Italian restaurant, whole food fruit and smoothie bar, my favorite Diner and a gym! blockbuster furniture store home decor and need stores, clothing stores, bodega's, ta pa's bars, grocery store all in walking distance. with a $72 metro card your travels were endless for the month and inexpensive! (never to worry bout gas prices) Don't even let me get into my shopping experiences! bag and shoe haven and there was something for everyone and anyone. from Scary, Sporty, Retro, Diva, Fashionesta, tomboy, and all else in between. Honestly, I couldn't tell you one specif reason why

I loved New York living I just did and I'd do it again. People often ask, " well if you loved it so much, why'd you leave?)my answer will always be... To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under the heavens. Ecclesiastes 3:11. My time had come and gone for that season of my life and I moved accordingly, when we release OUR plans for our lives and embrace GOD's plan (especially not knowing exactly what that plan is...) you open up a window of chance and possibility and the world, you will find, begins to work in your favor.
