Beauty lies Within

It is easy for a person to say that they understand that they can sympathize with a person’s journey and what they have gone through. I recently read a poem about a young girl that killed herself because she thought she was fat. Some say it’s easy for me to have an opinion about it because I don’t know what it is like to be overweight. Yes, that is true. I don’t know what it is like to be overweight, but everyone has a problem with something about themselves. The only difference is the way each person handles it individually. We live in a society that constantly critics, criticize, judges, and down plays everyone else. We are so worried about how the outside world views us that we do not take the time to see how we view ourselves. There are millions of young girls in the world that think the way the girl in the poem did. There are millions of girls and young women who look to these models, celebrities as role models. But are they really role models? How can we let other people dictate how we view ourselves? No longer did the young girl smile; no longer was she this sweet innocent girl, but a corpse lying in a casket on display for everyone to see. If no one stands up and say perfection does not exist, and that you accept yourself, then nothing will ever change. Society will continue to control who you are and we will continue to live in a vortex of pretenders, self doubt, and insecurities. It’s time to stand up! No longer will we let another young beautiful girl end her life because of the shallowness of Hollywood! No longer will another girl look in the mirror and say she is not good enough, beautiful enough. No longer will an innocent life be taking out of this world for such outlandish reasons. Stand up! Rejoice and accept yourselves as you are! No one is perfect. Sometimes the journey to perfection is much more powerful than achieving perfection itself. Until we accept that we will forever be holding ourselves back. You are beautiful! Each and every one of you all out there are beautiful. Stop letting other people tell you if you are worthy or not. Ladies, you are worthy! I believe it; you just have to believe it yourself. Look in the mirror and say “I am Beautiful! I am Worthy!”
