Surf Control

My job title falls under many names such as Computer Programmer, Applications Developer, Software Engineer and most recently “Experienced Consultant”. The easiest definition is Professional Internet Surfer. That’s right I get paid to surf the Internet, but you didn’t hear that from me. Now as a surfer, it’s only fair to share some of my favorite sites.

NEED A LAUGH?

Many people know of YouTube, but what about one of its top rivals www.funnyordie.com ? This site was cofounded by none other than comedic actor Will Ferrell. Its sole purpose is to be funny. Here the users have the power to vote “funny” or “die” on all submitted videos. Another cool thing about it is most of the videos come directly from other famous actors, comedians, and film producers. Just a few more to round out the list are www.superdeluxe.com and www.cracked.com .

SLANG

If you are the last person to know the latest slang or newly coined internet terms visit www.urbandictionary.com. If you and your friends have your own terminology, you can share it with the word by adding your own definitions. This site is very useful when I don’t want to explain to every fellow employee what the meaning of “bust it baby”. The most amusing things are not the actual definitions, but the examples on how to use most words in a sentence.

MUSIC

For the latest in music news, leaks, and mix tapes I frequent a few sites. Lately my favorite for music news has been www.hiphopdx.com. The best thing about this site is its media section where you can listen to entire mix tapes. A guy needs a good soundtrack when “working” as hard as I do. If you want a little more control of your own soundtrack head on over to www.pandora.com, create your own radio stations based on some of your favorite artist and enjoy. INFORMATION

Maybe you’re not as much of a slacker as me. Maybe with your surf time you want to learn something useful. www.wikihow.com is a good source for online How-tos. So if you’re interested in learning “How to child proof a room” or “How to fly a kite” this is the site for you. Perhaps you want to read up on how super delegates work or get a better understanding of 401k’s and 529 plans. If you ever find yourself puzzled on how stuff works, just check out www.howstuffworks.com.

There is so much information out there to find new material, music, or whatever. It just takes patience and playing around on the computer researching and you can find out anything you want.
