Kanye Makes Shorts Look Gangsta lol

Maybe I'm bias, but I'm feeling the look on Kanye West. The look works for him, its what I like to call Country Club Gangsta Couture lol. Shorts are not for every man so pleaseeee don't go out there and try it before consulting with the general public. This picture is from Lanvin Men's Fashion Show on June 29th. What do you think?

HIP TO THE HOP

Jay Z at the Glastonbury Festival proved that all hip hop isn't bad. This was a festival that before this year did not allow Hip Hop to be apart! Just like with any genre of music, Hip Hop has it's good and bad, but in the case of my favorite genre media focuses on the bad. Out there, this world has many truly wonderful artist going unrecognized for the bad. There are individuals who feel the spirit of their music and personifies true values and artistry, telling stories true to many exploring love, pain, hate, and happiness; in its truest form showing all the blood and tears from their soul.

They still go unnoticed due to this obsession with the negative aspect of music. I ask you to look past the surface and see beyond. Just like in life there is the good and bad, you don't focus on the bad in your life because you lose sigth of the good, so look at your music that way~!

Minority Weirdos Poem by Min We Kendrick

Good day
I’m glad to be in presence of minorities today
But we are mostly weirdos, may I in favor of the majority say
No matter minority or majority we are who we are
Weird, strange, or plain jane we are who we are
If we all come together
Together we may obtain
Something hidden but has obviously brewed inside the brain
Strapped with hi security and the speed of an Intel
But its only common sense that to you guys I go and tell
That we must weave like the Kevlar in that bullet stopping vest
Cuz if one single thread is broke then that bullet hits your chest
So all you weirdos come together tight and make that sacred vest
Sword and shield to face the dragons that will put you to the test
With them things like poverty which strikes us every single day
Economy’s finally scarring me cuz I cant put no cash away
So I call us a majority just for cases such as this
But we living long and prospering cuz we defend with golden fist
Need I say more
Im thinking not
Cuz the minorities are hot
We rap our song
Wear punk a lot
And we give the best we got.

Still Here by Langston Hughes

I been scared and battered.
My hopes the wind done scattered.
Snow has friz me,
Sun has baked me,

Looks like between 'em they done
Tried to make me

Stop laughin', stop lovin', stop livin'--
But I don't care!
I'm still here

FlyLeaf By Teen Min We DeShandalyn

James Culpepper - drums
Sameer Bhattacharya - guitar
Pat Seals - bass
Jared Hartmann - guitar
Lacey Mosley - vocals

Heavy music and pained lyrics go together like cake and ice cream. Flyleaf confront past traumas to heal old scars and prove in the process that hope shines brighter than despair. Flyleaf's self-titled debut album echoes with songs about abuse, neglect, addiction and dysfunction, and messages about overcoming adversity. And the band's wide array of brooding beats, atmospheric textures and lunging riffs compliment Mosley's emotionally revealing lyrics, which range from breathy and beautiful to scathing and aggressive. "I'm So Sick," starts with a moody bass line throbbing over a haunting ethereal vocal before guitars crash in like a rock through a plate glass window. The track see-saws between rage and reflection, guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann providing textural flourishes and atmospheric touches that bridge the emotional shifts. "Cassie" layers stop-start guitars atop an urgent backbeat and builds to an exultant chorus. "All Around You" augments a wall of power chords with evocative jazzy licks and "Fully Alive" is a cinematic number with angry muted riffs that segue into another glorious refrain.
The moodiness befits Mosley's background: as one of six siblings in a single-parent household, the confessional songwriter spent her childhood moving from apartment to apartment whenever the bills went unpaid. She openly acknowledges an early addiction to drugs and alcohol that fueled bouts of depression. As of the release of Flyleaf's full-length, the band was committed to sobriety.
After Sameer's local Belton, Texas band disbanded in 2000, he was recruited into the band Flyleaf by drummer James Culpepper. They played at many gigs, gradually building a fan base. Their music spread throughout Texas and beyond, and finally, they were signed. They released their full-length debut in 2005. Sameer, along with the other members of Flyleaf, is Christian. In fact, the entire band is of the Christian faith. This faith influences their music, but lead singer Lacey Mosley doesn't necessarily believe that makes Flyleaf a strictly Christian band.
This band has had many influences on me. What I really like about this band is how well their songs are played. Every time I hear one of their songs I sing along...very loudly! I love their music and how moving it is for me. I feel empowered after I hear one of their songs. This band has been through a lot and it shows that they have a long way to go in their future.

Seeing Music In Art

In many ways music and art, are one in the same. They both signify some type of beauty that is meaningful and emotional for each experiencing it.
They both offer some visual/hearing aid that allows individuals making it to express their selves and for others to be able to experience and relate. Just like everything in the world art and music of all kinds is beautiful to someone. Take time Experience ART and Experience Music… Its good for the soul.

LOOK BACK @ RICK JAMES

For all you youngsters out there, Rick James isn’t known only from appearances on Dave Chappelle saying “I’m Rick James, *****” or “Cocaine is a helluva drug” (although very funny). He was truly a great artist, musician, entertainer known for such songs as Mary Jane, Super Freak, Cold Blooded, and You and I. He was born in 1948 as James Johnson and later died in 2004 after a full entertainment career as the King of Punk-Funk. Rick James left behind a true legacy including 19 albums, many hit singles from 1978 to 1988 as well as Grammy nominations several times in his career. He lived a life of mischief and left behind many tales of his true uniqueness. He lived life on the edge for the good, the bad, and the music. This is definitely one artist who deserves a movie, which is scheduled to be released this year.

Live Super.

(PICTURE OF THE REAL PERSEPHONE)
Picture this (In my best Sophia from the Golden Girls voice)… It was 1987, a five year old girl with a vivid imagination considered herself Superwoman, a Break-dancer, and International Superstar. She was her own shero, phenomenal ultra-being. One minute she is singing and dancing to Janet Jackson songs admired by her huge crowd of teddy bears, to break dancing and entertaining at parties(until break dancing brought her through a glass table—hey it's the true definition of break dancing!), to being super and imagining and just believing she can fly and that she was invincible. This was my youth, I lived and dreamed and I tried all and enjoyed. I felt I could be anything and go anywhere. I just thought I was the greatest, which I'm sure the teddy bears would agree.

Do you remember the time when you got your first power? When you first decided what you wanted to be? (And it was 17 occupations at once) or when you just knew you were invincible and everything was possibly, happiness was easily found, and love was oh-so-simple? Those were the best of time, especially during the youth… Then something happens and we changed and grew up and forgot. Then we stopped feeling that love, power, and hope we once did. But who said you just because you now legal means you can't still have the same feelings from your childhood. We all can still be the same super beings like before and express your love and power of yesteryear.

There is nothing wrong with creating an alter ego (doesn't exactly have to be a super hero). For me, my alter ego is Vashti Persephone, who is a superhero with Bionic powers, singer, dancer, philosopher, and just a brilliant know-it-all. The alter ego can give you a little opposite from your current state and help you step out your box and get more comfortable with the uncomfortable and get to know you a little more.

Getting to know you is more like learning to love yourself. Rick James wouldn't be Rick James if he didn't think he was so ice cold. He played by his own rules for the bad and the good. (Note: Cocaine is a hellva drug) X-men couldn't save the world if they didn't believe in their powers and just did what was necessary.

Sometimes in life you just have to get out there and Do It, like Nike said. Hey, they did it and made millions! It's Scary, but chances are needed to get to where you want. Maybe, not the most notable source, but R. Kelly said it best "I Believe I Can Fly" (just don't jump off a building please). Something to always remember is "You win some, you lose some, but you live" (spoken the best on Friday by John Witherspoon). All the times, when you are learning how to ride your first bike, or mix for the first time on the turntable, or painted your first piece, you probably messed up, but you learned, moved on and got better and badder, like Michael Jackson. To get to know yourself you have to get out there and take chances and learning. The best school always was the school of life and hard knocks. A part of learning is loving yourself, and know you are special! Barney said it's true! He was never wrong, to my knowledge, anyway.

So get out your cape (or hottest outfit, whatever works for you), create your alter ego and explore and have fun. Make the super heroes jealous and become your own hero or shero. Protect the world from their boring existence, where everyone acts the same and just do what's expected. Be You and Save the World in Four Minutes- that is all we have left, according to Madonna, anyway.

Quick Facts:
George Clooney fantasy Superhero is The Green Hornet
Jennifer Lopez wanted to be Wonder Woman growing up
Beyonce's alter ego is Sassy Sasha

Hair Spray... try not to choke on the fumes.... lol

Okay, I know I'm sooooooo late, but HairSpray (NEW ONE) was soooo good. The singing, the dancing, the issues, you just gotta love it. Here is a little excerpt about it:Tracy Turnblad, an overweight teenager with all the right moves, is obsessed with the Corny Collins Show. Every day after school, she and her best friend Penny run home to watch the show and drool over the hot Link Larkin, much to Tracy's mother Edna's dismay. After one of the stars of the show leaves, Corny Collins holds auditions to see who will be the next person on the Corny Collins show. With all of the help of her friend Seaweed, Tracy makes it on the show, angering the evil dance queen Amber Von Tussle and her mother Velma. Tracy then decides that it's not fair that the black kids can only dance on the Corny Collins Show once a month, and with the help of Seaweed, Link, Penny, Motormouth Maybelle, her father and Edna, she's going to integrate the show.....without denting her 'do

Not only is Queen Latifah in this movie, but John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, and many more. This movie is a prime example of what we all need to do! TAKE ACTION FOR WHAT WE BELIEVE IS RIGHT.....wouldn't hurt to do a little dancing to... If you haven't seen the movie, check it out.

SEEING SOUNDS

Listening to music, I see sounds....Sounds of beauty, pain, confidence, love, hate, and more. I see it! which is why Seeing Sounds by N.E.R.D ( No One Really Dies) speaks to me like a new language. I truly love all 12 tracks of this album. NERD consisting of Pharrell, Shae, and Chad, a super group of guys that know how to put music together to create their own style, minority weirdos at their best. NERD is a little alternative, rock, pop, hip hop, and r&b; all this put together to provide a smooth sound that is good for a listen no matter where you are! I'm feeling all the tracks but my favorites are "KILL JOY", "SOONER OR LATER", AND "Yea You". Give them a listen, its well worth it.

The Mis-Art of Procrastination

To be or not to be that is the question... and you know... the answer is within. I use to keep telling myself that i needed to experience more to see more of life before I was able to share anything with the world... that indeed was say is my procrastination... waiting on the right thing to say some new story that has never been told when i know that there is nothing new under the sun. We all know that procrastination stems from fear which paralyzes and keeps us from moving in a forward mobile state... and it is such the perfect vice to being stagnant and complacent. I am afraid... i am paralyzed keeping myself from my own truth my own dream and vision. I think it funny that I can uplift and motivate any and everyone else yet my own motivation is being pressured and pushed down by fear of what could be. I want it so bad yet i don't think i would know what to do with it if i had it.. maybe that's why i can't do it right now... writers block... that's what I'll call it. this feeling i have this inability to create this inadequacy this lack of better words... or any words for that matter. this is a random blog my thoughts running on a rampage running from me in the discourse of mind... mine... but there is something that does consume me love selfless or reckless love in the eye of the beholder i suppose. my first love of words seems to be lost scattered and out of tune. maybe it's better that it hurts that its difficult that i must keep putting off my destiny???? makes no sense at all...

Journey to the Center of the Earth...

We Are All Here To Do,......

We're all here to do, what we are all here to do, true words spoken from the Oracle on Matrix Reloaded. I truly believe in this philosophy. Everyone is put on this earth for a specific reason to do something. Some find out that reason sooner, others later, and some will never. We aren't here to do nothing, we all have an opportunity to affect the world in some manner, no matter how big or how small. It's like everyone is a contribution to this big textbook on life for the good and the bad, to show and give experiences and affect us all. We all have a purpose, may it be writing, maybe art, maybe anything, but we all have something in us that makes us special and unique.

Kung Fu Panda to the rescue.....

A unlikely movie choice drew me to the theater this week (well kids anyways), that absoutely blew me away with tears of laughter was Kung Fu Panda (like I said unlikely choice). It consisted of supreme kung fu fighting from a turtle, rat(or something),snake, tiger,of course a panda, and others. Its truly a magnificent movie, full of action and laughs. Its a good choice for those having a rough day and need a cute laugh or to take the family. So check it out, I swear its worth it (and you know I hate the theaters). Here is a little about the movie....
It's the story about a lazy, irreverent slacker panda, named Po, who is the biggest fan of Kung Fu around...which doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five -- Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey -- under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart - and his girth - into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths

A New Day is Coming!!

"A New Day" has come... as suggested by the title of Len Xiang new album... Len Xiang is one of those groups that put together a great blend of soul, hip hop, and alternative to provide a poetic message that will infect your mind every time. Len Xiang is a group straight out of Brooklyn (you notice some of the hotness always coming out of Brooklyn). Len Xiang consist of Datious "Tuac" Taylor Xiang- Lead Vocals, B. Satz-Bass, Guitar, Background Vocals, Ayce International-DJ, Jason Mills, Benny Murray, Anthony Johnson-Drums, Percussion, Emil Mcgloin-Guitar. This group is definitely going places led by Tuac (Whom I love name!!!), looking to spread light and love. Some songs you should check out are "Freedom" and "Love This". Check Len Xiang out.... Seeking Something Beautiful......

A little soul, a little rock, with a mix of pop makes up the beautiful sounds of Kwanza Jones, who is seeking something beautiful as suggested by one of her song titles. I think this description fits her best:

"Kwanza Jones is an urban Janis Joplin..." "she could be a female Prince, so to speak... she is a powerhouse!" "She has fire and energy, she is a 'True Talent '" "Kwanza Jones blends her natural music with other influences and experiences in a way that comes across as heart-felt as well as pleasurable." "She is a cross between Tina Turner and Alanis Morrisette with a touch of Norah Jones." "After watching Kwanza you won't need caffeine. Her boundless energy in undeniable; it is contagious."-Taken from Myspace

Her voice brings me a peace. Some songs to check out, "Something Beautiful" and "Masterplan". Check her Out Kwanza Myspace or Kwanza Website

A Home of Our Own

I think anyone struggling or not should watch "A Home Of Our Own", starring Kathy Bates. It's a great movie about perseverance . It's about a struggle of one poor family that fell on hard times but wanted a house and was determined to complete their dreams.

The story is located in Los Angeles in the sixties. An energetic widow, Frances Lacey, with her six children try to make a dream of theirs come true: to have a home of their own. Therefore they leave Los Angeles and head for the countryside, while facing all kinds of difficulties during their journey. Written by Volker Boehm

This is a great story showcasing to never give up on your dreams or yourself for that matter. Have a goal and/or dream and believe, have faith and work towards it no matter what. If you believe it you can achieve. Only you can make a difference, you can't sit around and wait for something to happen, you have to make it happen, and be patient for things to work the way they should (sometimes our own view of things are a little off).

Always remember you are not alone and that you are always loves no matter what. Also, that we are all human and can use a little help (as long as we are helping ourselves). No one is above or below the law of life. We are all equals just all look different.

Fact:Over 50% of Americans are one pay check away/catastrophe away from being homeless.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Me and fellow Min We Tech Guy went on a adventure....to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull. We went in with no expectations (how could you when the last movie was in 1989!).... Left out with a mixture of feelings ranging from wow, exciting, weird,ok, to just okay but oh so right. For the good and the bad of the movie in my opinion it hit the spot ( I actually don't regret going to the theater to see it!). Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) stayed true to his character even in his older age, he was young as ever with his wonderful action sequences. Here is a little something about the movie:Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a 2008 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, from a story co-written by executive producer George Lucas. Set in 1957, the fourth film in the Indiana Jones film series pits an older Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) against agents of the Soviet Union, led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett), in the search for a crystal skull. Indy is aided by his former lover Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), the greaser "Mutt" Williams (Shia LaBeouf), and fellow adventurer Mac (Ray Winstone). John Hurt and Jim Broadbent also play fellow academics.

I must say the whole alien work in was kinda weird to me, I truly wasn't expecting it, but nonetheless a good movie! Go out and check it out.

Just Wanna Have Fun????

Last Night around 10pm, I watched an oldie but goodie (one of my favs!) Girls Just Want To Have Fun, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt. You should check it out; its the ultimate dance movie of the 80s. Great dancing, big hair, and cool colorful outfits. This leads me to my question, What happen to fun, the dancing, the parties? What happen to just letting your hair down, going with the music, and just having fun. I think right now that the music that make you want to dance is minimal. I challenge you all to: 1. Make your own soundtrack for dance (post under comments) 2. Go out and Dance, Dance, Dance (or in your own room).

Here is my Dance Soundtrack so far....

Get Me Bodied-Beyonce
Fergielicious-Fergie

Im still thinking on the rest of the list....

Many people know of YouTube, but what about one of its top rivals www.funnyordie.com ? This site was cofounded by none other than comedic actor Will Ferrell. Its sole purpose is to be funny. Here the users have the power to vote “funny” or “die” on all submitted videos. Another cool thing about it is most of the videos come directly from other famous actors, comedians, and film producers. Just a few more to round out the list are www.superdeluxe.com and www.cracked.com .

SLANG

If you are the last person to know the latest slang or newly coined internet terms visit www.urbandictionary.com. If you and your friends have your own terminology, you can share it with the word by adding your own definitions. This site is very useful when I don’t want to explain to every fellow employee what the meaning of “bust it baby”. The most amusing things are not the actual definitions, but the examples on how to use most words in a sentence.

MUSIC

For the latest in music news, leaks, and mix tapes I frequent a few sites. Lately my favorite for music news has been www.hiphopdx.com. The best thing about this site is its media section where you can listen to entire mix tapes. A guy needs a good soundtrack when “working” as hard as I do. If you want a little more control of your own soundtrack head on over to www.pandora.com, create your own radio stations based on some of your favorite artist and enjoy. To get the latest on leaks, concert footage, and interviews head over to www.youheardthatnew.com.

INFORMATION

Maybe you’re not as much of a slacker as me. Maybe with your surf time you want to learn something useful. www.wikihow.com is a good source for online How-tos. So if you’re interested in learning “How to child proof a room” or “How to fly a kite” this is the site for you. Perhaps you want to read up on how super delegates work or get a better understanding of 401k’s and 529 plans. If you ever find yourself puzzled on how stuff works, just check out www.howstuffworks.com.

There is so much information out there to find new material, music, or whatever. It just takes patience and playing around on the computer researching and you can find out anything you want.

Sex and the City Review

Ever since the last episode of Sex and the City, I wanted more, I needed more, I just had to know what happen next. Then last year, on a Tuesday, I heard the unthinkable there was going to be a movie. I was excited beyond words and was patiently waiting until May 30th.

On May 30th at 1:10pm (dressed in our best fashion) me and fellow Min We Paige, ventured in hoping to not be disappointed... And we weren't! There was tears of sadness, tears of joy, tears of laughter. Let's call this movie tears of life. It brought water to my eyes in all ways possible. This was truly a phenomenal movie that kept movie goers guessing but definitely not disappointed. The outfits and shoes would make any fashion love weak in the knees. The movie appealed to a range of different types of individuals giving all viewers a little of what they may need. It's a movie to definitely see with friends and pull out your stilettos, designer bags, and hottest outfits and go see Sex and the City, go party, get a Cosmo (or pretend to), and just live it in whatever City you in....

Easy Like Sunday Morning...

The high impact of chaos and disorder in our minds, never the less in our hectic lives leave us drained at the end of the week and dreading the beginning of the new week starting the moment we leave work on Friday. We sometimes jam our weekends with so much activity that we never begin replenishment for the next week. Sundays become an added stress simply because of the day it carries behind it. It seems that even during the most relaxing activity on Sundays such as a picnic on the lake or a nice long drive in the opposite direction of your life's habitat; can seemingly be an additive to stress because we don't want the day to end, in fact..."I don't want to go to work in the morning! Ugh! " Sundays had been noted as the day of rest in our culture, of course this was enforced many years ago and was somehow lost in the midst of time travel, the emphasis we've put on gain, and the lack of satisfaction. Sundays meant praise, worship and napping. Dinner was prepared the night before, the laundry had already been done and folded away. the shopping centers dare not open for business on Sunday. Things were oh so simple then. This day use to be sacred and easy it would seem that all the cares of the world would be put behind you on Sunday which is a great detox from the demanding week we've put behind us. Nowadays, Sundays are an extra day in the work week. Even if we are off on Sundays there is much to do in prep for the dreaded week's beginning. The point of my rantings about Sunday is that we have moved away from the simplicity and easiness of Sundays and maybe just maybe we are a contributing factor to the restlessness and pessimism. So I urge you to take this first day of June which just so happens to be Sunday and TRY to make Sundays easy for the rest of the month, at least. Cause maybe if we had just one day where we actually did nothing and took the time to read, write, listen to a friend or music and just... Be... on Sunday; We'll begin to relax a bit and the tension of the work week may dwindle just a tad. Just a random thought... enjoy your Sunday and forget about tomorrow. Be in your present moment. Be easy, easy like Sunday mornings should be. Oh and the song is not too shabby either! lol by Lionel Richie
